Resumen
It is reported of the spawning of three pairs of Bufo blombergi, resulting in approximately 50.000 eggs on the 25th and 26th November 1975. The fertility ratio is rather low, even though the breeding result of 2.074 tadpoles of this toad whilst in captivity is the highest ever heard of. On the 8th day of development the tadpoles swam freely in the tank. On the 16th day, buds of the hindlegs were perceptible. From the 36th day on, the break-through of the forelegs began. The metamorphosis lasted from the 43rd through the 47th day. The metamorphosed animals then left the water as little toadlets having a length of 1 em. The water remperature was 24° C and the tadpoles were fed by turns with £1sh rearing food SUd1 as Tetra Min, Tetra Ovin, Tetra Phyll, as well as Tabi Min tablets. The young toads which on February 13, 1976, already have a snout-vent-length of 2 em, arc easily to feed with little crickets (Gryllt.ts bimaculatus), fruit flies (D1"Osophi1a melanogaster), red larvae of Chironomu5 sp., and of the moth Galleria melLonella. The rearing of the tadpoles including the metamorphosis passed without any remarkable losses. During the time of development of the tadpoles, particular attention was paid to sufficient aeration of the water.
